Does a Will go through probate?

Probate is a legal proceeding that is used to finalize a person’s legal and financial affairs after death.  This proceeding is conducted in court and can take anywhere from eight months to several years.  There are fees affiliated with probate as to compensate the attorneys and executors involved in the probate process.  The fee is determined by the value of the estate.  As a result of the high costs and length of probate, some people try to avoid probate entirely.
